Description of the week's work 27-Oct-08 Services: work continues on finishing all electrical fittings and services. Internal Finishings: Almost all internal doors and architraves fitted, main entrance floor and door fitted, cleaning, split-level stairs and final painting. External work: levelling gardens and comunal areas, paths, access steps, main entrance area, final painting.

14-Jul-08 Stone walls: Work on the last few stone walls around the main building continues. Bathrooms: Bathrooms being fitted with sanitary ware. External work: Work continues on final access steps, paths and ground floor patios and terraces. Final levelling of land underway. General: Almost all shutters fitted, sanitary wares and radiators being fitted.
23-Jun-08 It's now hot like the height of summer - everything exaggerated this year ! Work on site therefore speeding along now. Stone walls: Work on the last few stone walls around the main building continues. Bathrooms: Bathrooms being fitted with sanitary ware. External work: Work continues on final access steps, paths and ground floor patios and terraces. Final levelling of land underway. General: Almost all shutters fitted, sanitary wares and radiators being fitted.
16-Jun-08 The rain stopped and the temperature has shot up to the high 20s - has summer finally arrived? We can hope !! Consequently, good progress has been made this week. Stone walls: Work on the last few stone walls around the main building continues. Bathrooms: Bathrooms being fitted with sanitary ware. Services: ready to be connected to the comunal supplies/infrastructure. Villetta: almost finished painting the outside walls. Window sills gone in and now ready for doors and windows. Floors ready to be tiled. Access steps with adjacent stone walls completed. External work: trenches dug for drains and service pipes now filled in and ground levelled. Work continues on final access steps, paths and ground floor patios and terraces. Final levelling of land underway. Pool steps constructed and canals around the edge to make an infinity pool laid. Final preperations underway prior to mosaic tiles being laid. Painting: Internal painting complete and just a few more window borders to complete. General: Internal doors, shutters, sanitary wares and radiators all delivered and installation of these items will be carried out over the next few weeks.
02-Jun-08 It just doesn't stop raining. Progress hampered by wet weather and still waiting to infill trenches dug for drains and service pipes. Stone walls: Last few stone walls around the main building being worked on. Bathrooms: Bathrooms being fitted with sanitary ware. Services: water, electricity and sewage pipes laid and ready to be connected to the comunal supplies/infrastructure. Villetta: inside plastering and external rendering completed, floors laid and service piping laid. Access steps and stone walls almost finished. External work: work continues on final access steps, paths and ground floor patios and terraces. Final levelling of land underway. Final block of garages now have waterproof membranes laid on the roof sections and stone wall facing started. Painting: Internal painting almost complete and just a few more window borders to paint.
19-May-08 Stone walls: stone facing work on the block of 8 garages finished. Soon to start on the final block of 4. Work continues on the terrace and garden walls especially around the main entrance. Bathrooms: sanitary ware delivered - ready to install. Services: water, electricity and sewage pipes being laid. Internal finishings: radiators delivered. Villetta: plastering of internal walls started. External work: work started on final access steps, paths and ground floor patios and terraces. Final levelling of land started. Painting: work continues on painting internal and external walls of the entire building.
05-May-08 Stone walls: stone facing work on the front walls of the garages almost finished. Work continues on the terrace and garden walls especially around the main entrance. Bathrooms: work continues on finishing bathrooms. Bedroom floors: half of the apartments now have the wood parquet floors laid in the bedrooms. Villetta: first fix plumbing and electrical installations are now completed. Garages: The roof has now been constructed for the last block of 4 garages. Painting: work continues on painting internal and external walls of the entire building.
28-Apr-08 Stone walls: stone facing work continues on the front walls of the garages, terrace and garden walls. Bathrooms: work continues on finishing bathrooms. Bedroom floors: most of the apartments now have the wood parquet floors laid in the bedrooms. Villetta: plumbing and electrical installations are well under way. Garages: The shuttering for the roof is now being constructed for the last block of 4 garages. Painting: work continues on painting internal and external walls of the entire building.
21-Apr-08 Maybe summer has arrived !! Warm and sunny week. Stone walls: stone facing work continues on the front walls of the garages, terrace and garden walls. Bathrooms: work continues on finishing bathrooms. Bedroom floors: work has started on laying the wood parquet floors in the bedrooms. Villetta: plumbing and electrical installations are well under way. Garages: The dividing walls have now been constructed for this last block of 4 garages, and we are almost ready to lay the steel re-inforced roof which will become the garden areas and courtyard at the front of the building. Painting: work continues on painting internal and external walls of the entire building.
14-Apr-08 Very wet week, rained pretty much every day - again!! Stone walls: work continues on the stone terrace and garden walls. Bathrooms: work continues on finishing bathrooms. Villetta: construction of the independent pool-side villa continues. Work on the electrics and plumbing has started. Garages: The rear retaining walls and dividing walls have now been constructed for this last block of 4 garages. Painting: work has continues on painting internal and external walls of the entire building.
07-Apr-08 Very wet week, rained pretty much every day !! Stone walls: work continues on the stone terrace and garden walls. Bathrooms: work continues on finishing bathrooms. Villetta: construction of the independent pool-side villa continues. The roof is now finished, the raised steel reinforced concrete screed cavity floor has been laid and internal walls have been built. Garages: The main rear retaining walls have now been constructed for the back of this last block of 4 garages. A total of 35m3 of concrete was poured onto the bed-rock with large diameter steel rods drilled and set into the rock to act as an anchoring key between rock and steel reinforced concrete retaining walls. Shuttering work now continues for all dividing walls and then for the roof. Painting: work has continues on painting internal and external walls of the entire building.
31-Mar-08 Stone walls: work continues on the stone terrace and garden walls. Bathrooms: work continues on finishing bathrooms. Villetta: construction of the independent pool-side villa continues. The roof is now finished, the raised steel reinforced concrete screed cavity floor has been laid and internal walls have started being built. Garages: The steel reinforced concrete base for two of the four garages has been laid and the shuttering work is under way for the double reinforced rear retaining walls. This block of 4 garages is being constructed in two parts to reduce the width of the exposed, excavated rear section under the building. As soon as concrete has been poured into the retaining wall cavity, excavation will be completed for the next two. Painting: work has started on giving all internal walls a final two coats of paint. Work has also started on painting the external walls of the building. The building will be given two final coats of paint on top of the primer and will be painted using 4 colours; pastel yellow, orange terracotta, pastel peach and a light orange/pink mix. This will help emphasise the various parts of the original 'borgo' which was typically built in stages over many years. Railings: wrought iron railings have now been fitted to the arched windows on the top floors, and to all 'juliet' windows above ground level. Fitting of the railings alongside the steps to the 1st floor apartments at the north end of the building is almost complete.

Villetta: construction of the independent pool-side villa continues. Garages: excavation of the ground for the construction of the final block of 4 garages completed.

10-Mar-08 Terrace & garden walls: work continues on the final terrace and perimeter walls. Swimming Pool: Pre-formed concrete canals arrived. These will be cemented on top of the perimeter pool walls to take water from the pool to the filtration system. Bathrooms: work started on tiling the bathroom walls. Floor tiles: terracotta tiling in living areas finished. Villetta: construction of the independent pool-side villa continues. Garages: excavation of the ground for the construction of the final block of 4 garages continues.
3-Mar-08 Terrace & garden walls: work continues on the final terrace and perimeter walls. Swimming Pool: Ground levelled around swimming pool and Work continues on the underground plant and equipment room. Bathrooms: work continues on fitting baths and shower trays to all bathrooms. Floor tiles: terracotta tiling in living areas virtually completed with 'skirting' boards in slate being fitted. Villetta: construction of the independent pool-side villa continues. Garages: excavation of the ground for the construction of the final block of 4 garages has begun. Once this is finished, all external structural work will be complete.
25-Feb-08 Terrace & garden walls: work continues on the final terrace and perimeter walls. Swimming Pool: The walls of the swimming pool have now been constructed. Work on the underground plant and equipment room continues. Bathrooms: work continues on fitting baths and shower trays to all bathrooms. Floor tiles: tiling of apartment floors almost finished, with terracotta in living areas and slate floors in bathrooms. Laying of wood parquet floors in bedrooms will now begin. Villetta: construction of the walls of the independent pool-side villa continues. Garages: excavation of the ground for the construction of the final block of 4 garages has begun. Once this is finished, all external structural work will be complete.
18-Feb-08 Terrace & garden walls: work continues on the final terrace and perimiter walls. Swimming Pool: The walls of the swimming pool have now been constructed. Work on the underground plant and equipment room continues. Bathrooms: work continues on fitting baths and shower trays to all bathrooms. Floor tiles: tiling of apartment floors almost finished, with terracotta in living areas and slate floors in bathrooms. Laying of wood parquet floors in bedrooms will now begin. Villetta: construction of the walls of the independent pool-side villa continues.
11-Feb-08 : Terrace Steps: steps ascending the 2 terrace levels above the block of 8 underground garages have now been constructed. Swimming Pool: The walls of the swimming pool are now being constructed, along with the underground plant and equipment room. Bathrooms: work continues on fitting baths and shower trays to all bathrooms. Floor tiles: tiling well under way with half of all apartment floors now finished with terracotta in living areas and slate floors in bathrooms. Wood parquet floors in bedrooms to be done at the end. Villetta: construction of the walls of the independent pool-side villa has now started.
04-Feb-08 : Under-terrace garages: terrace walls above garage to form new terrace levels have now been constructed. Steps taking up the 2 terrace levels are almost buildt. Slate work: slate thresholds laid between rooms that are finished with different floor finishes. Bathrooms: work continues on fitting baths and shower trays to all bathrooms. Floor tiles: tiling well under way with a third of all apartment floors now finished with terracotta in living areas and slate floors in bathrooms. Wood parquet floors in bedrooms to be done at the end. Villetta: concrete foundations and base laid in preperation for the construction of the independent pool-side villa.
28-Jan-08 : Under-terrace garages: terrace walls above garage to form new terrace levels are being constructed. Slate work: slate thresholds being laid between rooms that are finished with different floor finishes. Bathrooms: work continues on fitting baths and shower trays to all bathrooms. Floor tiles: tiling started, in general, terracotta in living areas, wood parquet in bedrooms and slate floors in bathrooms. Swimming pool: work well under way with swimming pool construction. Steel re-inforced base poured with filtration pipework laid within. Approx. 9m x 11m x 1.4m deep at the shallow end and 2m deep at the deep end. Villetta: work started on clearing the site and digging foundations for the independent pool-side villa.
21-Jan-08 : Under-terrace garages: structural work completed. External entrance doors: Metal security doors are now being fitted to the main entrance of every apartment. Slate work: slate work almost complete. Bathrooms: work continues on fitting baths and shower trays to all bathrooms. External stone work: External work continues. Floor tiles: tiles delivered, ready to to start laying floor tiles. Swimming pool: work started on constructing the steel re-inforced swimming pool structure. Approx. 9m x 11m x 1.4m deep at the shallow end and 2m deep at the deep end.
14-Jan-08 : Under-terrace garages: re-inforcing steel-work finished, ready to pour cement to complete roof and structure. Windows: All windows fitted. External entrance doors: Metal security doors are now being fitted to the main entrance of every apartment. Slate work: slate work almost complete. Bathrooms: work continues on fitting baths and shower trays to all bathrooms. External stone work: External work continues. Floor tiles: just about ready to start laying floor tiles on the upper floor apartments.
07-Jan-08 : Under-terrace garages: Work on the block of 8 garages continues. Windows: All but 3 remaining windows have been fitted which means the building is now virtually sealed from the elements. External entrance doors: Metal security doors are now being fitted to the main entrance of every apartment. Slate work: slate work continues on the main stairway and other shelf, niches and steps which are to be finished with slate. Bathrooms: work continues on fitting baths and shower trays to all bathrooms. External stone work: Another new terrace wall has been completed and faced with local stone.
31-Dec-07 : Not so much work done this week what with the New Year and one of the coldest weeks we've seen in the past 6 years. So, a few piccies of the winter wonderland up in the coastal mountains after almost 1 metre of snowfall. In the coastal hills, snow like this lasts just a few days but above 1000m it'll be there until March.
24-Dec-07 : A steel reinforced concrete roof is now being constructed to complete the structural work on the second block of 8 under-terrace garages.
Slates are now being laid on all communal access stairways inside the house.
Bath and shower trays have been delivered and will start being installed after the christmas holidays.
Stonework continues, facing the walls of stairways and external walls.
The lift doors have been fitted on all 4 floors.
17-Dec-07 : A steel reinforced concrete roof is now being constructed to complete the structural work on the second block of 8 under-terrace garages.
Slates are now being laid on all communal access stairways inside the house.
Bath and shower trays have been delivered and will start being installed after the christmas holidays.

10-Dec-07 : Steel reinforced concrete dividing walls for the second block of 8 under-terrace garages has been completed. Work in preparation for construction of the roof has now started.

Painting and decorating throughout all the apartments continues.
Stonework continues, facing the walls of stairways and external walls.
07-Dec-07 : Steel reinforced concrete base and rear wall for the second block of 8 under-terrace garages has been completed. Shuttering work in preparation for pouring the side and dividing walls continues.
All steps between rooms of different levels inside individual apartments are being laid in slate. Work progressing well.
Painting and decorating throughout all the apartments continues.
Stonework continues, facing the walls of stairways and external walls.
30-Nov-07 : Excavation of the ground for the second block of 8 under-terrace garages has been completed. Preparation work for laying the steel reinforced concrete foundations is now under way. The shuttering work will follow.
Escavation of the ground where the swimming pool will go has been completed. Foundations and structural work all in steel reinforced concrete will be carried out over the next 3-5 weeks.
All steps between rooms of different levels inside individual apartments are being laid in slate. Work progressing well and over half completed. Once this has been done, floors will be ready for putting down floor finishings - terracotta in the living spaces, wood parquet in the bedrooms and impermeable slates in the bathrooms.
Painting and decorating throughout all the apartments continues.
19-Nov-07 : Terraces are being levelled and escavation work started for the 2nd block of 8 underground garages started. The structural work for the new water storage tank has been completed to replace the old one in front of apartment 6 which has been knocked down to give an open garden area. Window sill slates are now being laid in the ground floor apartments along with slates for internal apartment steps. Final coats of paint are being applied in the lower apartments and general preperation work in readiness for laying floor finishings.
Plastic membrane laid on top in readiness for final self-levelling concrete screed floor layer to be pumped in. Plumbing and electrical trunking work completed on all but 2 apartments. Rendering of final sections of external walls and front 'porticci's completed. Work has now started on laying the final layers of concrete screed in each apartment.
- 4.5cm accoustic and thermal insulating floor layer pumped into all apartments (except 2) and left to set. Stone facing work on the lower stair sections started. All remaining structural work relating to front 'porticci's and access stairs at the front and on the north wing completed. The stairs and terraces for access to apartments 7a and 7b have been constructed as has the base, lower pillars and 1st floor terrace for access to the lower 2 apartments at the front of the building. Work continues on the new terrace walls which extend the garden areas in front of the building between the first block of 4 garages and the corner of the grounds above where the swimming pool will be. Two of the 3 main walls have been completed. Slate window and door sills continue to be fitted on all floors of the building.
As in the past few weeks, work continues on the plastering, plumbing and wiring. Construction of the new 'portici' has started. This will be rendered and painted when finished in a few weeks time.
Work is now well under way on the ground floor properties with cavity floors, walls and door frame Work finished.
